Local SEO Services

Show up in the Norfolk Map Pack and in 'near me' searches. We fix your Google Business Profile, your local listings and your reviews.

ServiceFAQPage

Local SEO helps people nearby find your business. Someone searches "plumber near me". Someone else asks AI for a good dentist in Norwich. Local SEO puts you in front of both.

We are Unity SEO, a Norwich-based SEO consultancy. Local SEO is the service with the fastest, clearest effect for a business that serves a town or a county. We fix your Google listing, help you earn more reviews, and write pages for the places you serve.

You do not need to know the jargon. We will explain each step in plain words.

How Local Search Works in 2026

Two systems decide whether a local customer finds you. One is Google's map. The other is AI answers.

The Map Pack

When someone searches with a place in mind, Google shows a map with three businesses. This is called the Map Pack. It sits above the normal links and takes up a lot of the screen.

Two things decide who appears there:

  • Your Google Business Profile. This is the free listing that holds your name, address, hours, photos and services. It is worth about 32% of the decision.
  • Your reviews. They are worth about 16–20%.

Together, they are more than half of what Google weighs. That figure comes from the Whitespark 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors (via The Right Crew).

AI answers

People also ask AI for recommendations. Around half say they have asked an AI for a local recommendation (BrightLocal). The AI reads the web, then names a business it can trust.

AI wants the same things Google wants. A complete profile. Strong reviews. Correct details. Pages it can read.

That is the chance. Many Norfolk businesses have none of it. No profile work. No review habit. No local pages.

Why Local Businesses Lose Customers

The problems repeat. They are easy to miss from inside the business.

  • The profile is half finished. No hours. No photos. Services missing. Google has less to show, so it has less to trust.
  • Reviews are old or few. A business with five reviews from 2019 loses to one with fifty from this year.
  • One page tries to cover every town. "We serve Norfolk" cannot win for Dereham or Cromer. Each town needs its own useful page.
  • The details do not match. A phone number that differs between Google, the website and a directory weakens trust.
  • AI cannot read the site. If the site needs JavaScript to show anything, an AI crawler sees an empty page.

None of this is a design problem. It is a follow-through problem. And it can be fixed.

What We Do

1. Fix and run your Google Business Profile

The profile is the base. We fill in every field that matters. That means the right main category and services. Real opening hours. Service areas for each town. Photos that look like your business. Regular posts.

We also watch what Google shows. If the profile is suspended, duplicated or merged with another listing, we sort it out. See our Google Business Profile guide for the detail.

2. Build a steady review habit

Reviews are the lever you control most. Most businesses ask for a review once, then stop. We set up a simple routine instead.

  • Ask every customer at the right moment, by text, email or in person.
  • Send one easy link that opens the review form.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, in a calm, plain voice.

We aim for a steady flow of recent reviews, with a count that keeps growing. A response rate of 75% or more is linked to a gain of about 2.3 places in local results. We never buy reviews. Fake reviews are a fast way to lose trust and rankings.

The method is in our Google Reviews strategy guide.

3. Write local pages that actually help

A page for each town or service area you really cover. It should answer real questions. Do you work in this town? What do you do? What does it cost? Who have you helped?

Each page needs local detail a stranger could not write. Named villages. Local landmarks. The kind of work that town needs. Prices or price ranges. Proof from real jobs. Links to your service pages.

This is not a template with the town name swapped in. Google calls that scaled content abuse, and it can drag a whole site down. We only write pages where there is something local and useful to say. The AI Content & Google's Quality Bar guide explains why.

4. Keep your details the same everywhere

Your name, address and phone number should match on every listing. Google, Bing, the website, directories and your invoices. One wrong digit is a small thing that adds up to a big trust problem.

We clean up the main directories and keep a log of every change. That way, the next person to edit a listing can see what was done.

5. Make your site easy for AI to read and quote

AI assistants read the same pages Google reads. We add clear labels to your pages. These labels tell a machine what your business is, where you work and what you offer. The technical name is schema.

We also add short, direct answers to the questions people ask. That makes it easy for an AI to take one sentence and name you as the source. Read the Google AI Overviews guide and our AEO & GEO service.

6. Measure what changes

We start with a baseline. Where do you appear in the Map Pack for your main terms? How many reviews do you have? How many calls and form fills? Are AI assistants naming you?

Then we track all of it each month and show it in plain English. No vanity charts. Just what changed, what it means, and what we will do next.

What We Won't Do

  • Buy reviews or fake them. It breaks Google's rules and it is easy to spot.
  • Publish a page for every town in Norfolk. Thin copies of one page hurt more than they help.
  • Stuff keywords into your copy. It reads badly and it does not work.
  • Promise a position. No honest SEO can promise number one.
  • Lock you in. The profile, the reviews and the pages are yours.

How It Works

Five steps, in order.

  1. Free local audit. We check your profile, reviews, local pages and site. We tell you what is holding you back, even if you do not hire us.
  2. A short fix plan. You get one list, sorted by impact. Not a hundred-page report.
  3. Foundation fixes. Profile, details, schema and the site basics.
  4. Review routine. We set it up with you, then keep it running.
  5. Local pages, then monthly tracking. We publish the pages that earn searches and report on what changed.

What You Get

  • A Google Business Profile that is complete, correct and active.
  • A simple review routine your team can keep using.
  • Local and service-area pages written for real people and real searches.
  • The same name, address and phone number everywhere that matters.
  • Clear labels and direct answers so Google and AI can understand you.
  • A monthly report in plain English: map positions, reviews, calls and AI mentions.

Positions, review counts and AI mentions are outcomes. They depend on your market, your competitors and your customers. What we deliver is the work listed above, and we say so up front.

What It Costs

We scope after the audit, not before. The audit is free. Work after that is priced by the size of the job, and every price is published on the pricing page. The packages that include Local SEO are listed below this page.

We will tell you when a fix is not worth the money. Some businesses need three changes, not thirty.

Who This Is For

This service fits businesses that serve a place. Builders, dentists, accountants, shops, clinics, trades, venues, estate agents and professional firms.

It fits you if:

  • You want more calls and enquiries from your own town.
  • You have a profile, but it is not pulling its weight.
  • You want AI assistants to name you, not just Google.
  • You have a team who can ask for reviews.

It may not fit yet if:

  • Your site does not exist or is still being built. Fix the site first.
  • You cannot answer new enquiries. More visibility means more work.

Frequently asked questions

What is local SEO, in simple words?

Local SEO is the work that helps people near you find your business. It covers your Google listing, your reviews and your local pages. When someone searches "plumber near me", or asks an AI for a good dentist in Norwich, local SEO helps you show up.

How do I get into the Google Map Pack?

You need three things. A complete Google Business Profile. A steady flow of recent reviews, with replies. And useful pages for the places you serve. Google weighs the profile and reviews most. We fix all three, in that order.

Is local SEO different from normal SEO?

Yes. Local SEO is about searches tied to a place. The map and nearby results matter most. Normal SEO is about ranking for topics across the wider web. Most local businesses need both. Local SEO often helps first.

Does local SEO help with AI assistants?

Yes. AI assistants look for the same things Google looks for. A full profile. Real reviews. The same details everywhere. Pages a machine can read. When those are strong, an AI can trust you and name you.

How fast will I see a change?

Profile fixes often show in Google's own data within four to eight weeks. Reviews and local pages build over months. We start with a baseline and show what changed. We will not promise a position.

What if I already have a Google Business Profile?

Good. Most of the work is improving it, not starting again. We check every field, add what is missing, fix wrong details and keep it active. We will tell you if a fresh profile is the better answer.
